Home > Winspear Opera House

With its dazzling ruby red "heart" any consider it the crown jewel among the glittering array of architectural wonders that the city of Dallas has constructed over the past several years. GPSI engineered and built the reflecting pool located at the entrance of the Winspear Opera House. Guests are able to peer through the one-inch water depth and see the names of the donors which are carved into granite pavers at the base of the pool. The challenge of maintaining a clean body of shallow, motionless water was achieved by engineering a system where water enters the fountain basin upwards through the joints of the granite pavers. It then flows slowly outward, eventually slipping over the negative edge at the perimeter of the pool, providing a framework for the reflection of downtown Dallas.
