Nick Chapman is Managing Principal of GPSI’s Design Studio, where he provides strategic leadership and serves as a client-facing principal for complex water feature projects across national and international markets. With a background in mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems for customized aquatic environments, he helps shape project vision, guide client relationships, and align design direction with overall project goals.
Nick works closely with architects, landscape architects, developers, and municipalities to define how water features perform, integrate, and are ultimately experienced within a project. He is particularly focused on aligning artistic vision with the realities of engineering systems, construction, and long-term operation. His role often centers on helping teams make critical early decisions around system approach, infrastructure, and user experience, ensuring that design intent can be executed without compromise. His experience includes interactive splash decks, choreographed fountains, architectural water features, life support systems, and large-scale lake environments.
His project experience includes Dorothea Dix Park in Raleigh, Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv, the S.E.A. District redevelopment in Corpus Christi, and Harold Simmons Park along the Trinity River in Dallas. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Texas A&M University and supports the continued growth of the Design Studio through collaboration across GPSI’s Design, Construction, and Service divisions.
